Podcast 13. Fútbol (Escuchar/ Listen)

Futbol

Football

If you like football you are lucky, for three weeks you will be able to watch football on television all day long
I’m not a great football fan but I like to watch the important matches specially when my friends come home to see them. I like to watch them sitting there, all of them looking at the television set, nervous, excited and ready to jump and shout just at the moment “our” team scores, and I say “our” because they feel it like that.
When we gather for these events we usually prepare dinner or just have some snacks and drinks during the break because if you are a real fan your stomach gets closed while eleven men dressed in shorts are running from one side to another of the field, they try to kick the ball into the goal while another eleven dressed in other colours try to avoid it and this happens during ninety minutes!!.
I can’t understand how something so simple can make my people jump, shout, put their hands up, open eyes widely and all this at once and I don’t understand either how football can paralyze cities, countries, continents and in some days even the entire world.
