¿Como prefieres conectar con la gente- en persona, por teléfono, online o cualquiera de las tres formas?
La verdad es que gracias a la web estamos sólos y acompañados a la vez, nos hemos convertido en “aislados en red”
Antes de que se inventara Internet y el correo electrónico manteníamos contacto frecuente con nuestros familiares, vecinos y colegas de trabajo, parte de este contacto lo hacíamos usando el teléfono pero aún así boca a boca, persona a persona, en tiempo real.
Hace unos años existía una gran preocupación porque se pensaba que Internet nos convertiría en seres aislados que pasan demasiado tiempo en el mundo ficticio de los ordenadores y la red.
Pero ha ocurrido exactamente lo contrario, Internet nos conecta con más gente real de lo que podíamos imaginar, gente generosa y servicial dispuesta a darnos consejo si tenemos problemas con el ordenador, o no sabemos como conectar el horno nuevo, siempre hay algún experto en alguna parte dispuesto a ayudarnos.
Los que vivimos en ciudades pequeñas siempre encontramos lo que necesitamos en internet. Yo he comprado la mayoría de los electrodomésticos por internet, resulta mucho más barato que en las tiendas de mi ciudad y te lo ponen en la puerta de casa en tres o cuatro días.
Internet nos facilita las cosas además de mantenernos conectados con gente, comunidades y colectivos a los que no tendríamos acceso de otro modo.

“networked individualist”
Before the invention of the Internet and e-mail, we kept in contact with our relatives, neighbours, and colleagues at work. Some of the interaction was by phone, but it was still voice to voice, person to person, in real time. Now and thanks to the computer we are able to be alone and together with other people, alone and networked
A few years ago many people were worried that the Internet will isolate us and cause us to spend too much time in the imaginary world of the computers and the net
But it’s just the opposite. The Internet connects us with more real people than expected—helpful people who can give advice, if we have problems with our computer, or we don’t know how to fix the new oven, there is always an expert somewhere ready to help us.
People who live in small cities, like me, always find what we need in the net, I have bought most of my electrical appliances in the net, cheaper than in local shops and you have them at your door in three or four days.
The internet makes things easier besides keeping us connected with people, communities and groups we wouldn’t gain access in other case.
