Podcast 49.

My Laptop

“If you are so careless that you leave your computer in the car and you are not even sure if you have or haven’t locked the door, then you can’t complain if the laptop disappears ,consequently, you must blame yourself because you are responsible for it”.

This is what my conscience told me last Monday when I realised my laptop had been stolen while I was in the gym, and when I was reporting it at the police station.

The policeman asked me surprised: “Are you telling me you left it on the back seat in your car?” and that you are not sure if you locked the door.

While the policeman was filling in a form with the details of my laptop another policeman who wore a blue uniform, a hat, black belt, gun and handcuffs asked me a lot of questions about the robbery, if the car had signs of having been forced or the keyhole was broken and if I had any clues about the thieves identity. They also checked the car looking for fingerprints or something to identify the robbers.

To top it all, I hadn’t saved my work for more than three months so besides the 1,200 euros I paid for it I also lost three months of job. But I know this is also my fault.

Trying to be positive and as the saying goes “every cloud has a silver lining”, it may be a good opportunity to buy a new and better one, in the end the thieves were going to give me the opportunity to upgrade my computer.
