Podcast 63. Cartas en Cadena (Escuchar/ listen)

Todos nosotros hemos recibido alguna vez una de esas cartas en cadena. Sabemos que no deberíamos enviarsela a esos diez amigos que acabarán echándonos pestes por llenar su buzón de correo, pero no estamos dispuestos a consentir que nos afecte el mal karma que dicen sufriremos si rompemos la cadena y después de pensarlo durante algunos minutos acabamos apretando la tecla y el mensaje sale disparado hacia esas diez personas que a su vez lo enviaran cada una a otras diez y el resultado final es que miles de mensajes circulan por Internet llenando nuestros buzones y haciéndonos perder el tiempo comprobando, enviando y borrando mensajes de este tipo.

Las mismas cartas en cadena que hace 40 años enviábamos por correo postal se han trasladado ahora a un medio mucho mas moderno, ya no necesitamos sellos, ni papel ni sobres, los mensajes los enviamos ahora en un segundo sin que en principio nos suponga ningún gasto. Todo es ahora mucho más rápido pero el contenido no ha cambiado, las promesas siguen siendo las mismas: buena suerte, salud, amor, dinero, poder. Sólo hay que enviar la carta a esos diez amigos y obtendremos la recompensa prometida aunque nuestros amigos se cansen de llamarnos después de recibir seis o siete de estas cartas.

¿Como librarse uno de esta plaga? Como todo tiene solución en Internet he encontrado una página que te ayuda no sólo a identificarlas sino que también te ofrece una guía para “salvarte del sufrimiento que pueden causarte estas diabólicas cartas”.

Chain Letters

All of us have ever received a chain letter. We know we shouldn’t forward it to these ten friends as they will curse us for clogging up their mail boxes . But we don’t want the bad karma they say comes from breaking the chain and after thinking about it for some minutes we finally click the button and the message flies to these ten people who will send it to other ten and the result is a million e-mail messages going around the net filling our mail boxes and making us to waste time checking, answering and deleting these messages.

The same chain letters that travelled by mail 40 years ago have moved to a more modern medium now, we don’t need stamps or paper or envelopes, the messages are now sent in a second without cost to the sender. Everything is faster now but the content hasn’t changed and the promises are all the same: good luck, health, love, money, power. You only have to send the letter to these ten friends and you will get the promised award although our friends stop phoning us after getting six or seven of these e-mails.

How can we get rid of this plague?
